Following the tournament, golfers and guests enjoyed a cocktail reception, dinner and program. Bruce Jackson, Habitat CFC’s Board Chair, opened the program with remarks about the organization’s mission.
“Every family deserves the security and peace of mind that comes with having a safe place to call home," said Jackson. "We're grateful to everyone who continues to support that mission and the families we serve.”
Jackson then introduced Habitat CFC’s Executive Director, Ashley Volkens, who thanked the attendees, sponsors, board of directors, and Habitat CFC staff and volunteers for their contributions to the event.
"Support like this doesn't happen by accident. It takes dedicated individuals, businesses and community partners who believe in what we're building together," said Volkens. "The success of an event like this is a reminder that we cannot address the need for affordable homeownership alone. We need to work together, and there is a role for everyone to play in making homeownership possible for more families."
She then introduced George Keith, Golf Outing Committee Chair and former Habitat CFC Board Chair, who reflected on his longstanding involvement with the organization.
"I first became involved with Habitat at an event just like this, and hearing a homeowner's story changed everything for me," said Keith. "Years later, I'm still proud to be part of an organization that gives families the opportunity to build a better future."
One of the highlights of the evening was a moving and heartfelt speech by Habitat CFC homeowner Myriam Ramos, who shared how affordable homeownership has transformed her life and created opportunities for her children.

“I am deeply grateful for the opportunity Habitat gave me to have a safe and secure home for my children. Because of Habitat, my children have a place where they can grow up, feel safe, and become successful members of society. I’m very proud of my children. They were able to focus on their education and build a bright future… Thanks to Habitat, my children had the foundation they needed to succeed,” said Ramos, a Habitat CFC homeowner since 1999.
“Owning a Habitat home not only changed my life, it also inspired my children. Seeing that I could achieve the dream of homeownership encouraged them to pursue the same dream. Today they own their own houses and have built successful careers and businesses. My hope is that other families just like me will have the same opportunity that Habitat gave me. A safe home can change the future of a family for generations.”
Following the program, guests participated in a spirited paddle raise and live auction, generously contributing to Habitat CFC’s ongoing work. Funds raised through the event will help support the organization’s upcoming projects and expand affordable homeownership opportunities for families throughout Coastal Fairfield County.
