About Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County

Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County (Habitat CFC) is a nonprofit organization that builds affordable homes in partnership with families earning 40-70% of the area median income. We sell the homes to our partner families with 30-year interest-free mortgages based on the buyer’s ability to pay to ensure long-term affordability. Habitat CFC has a well-earned reputation for success in transforming abandoned properties into homes for taxpaying community members, building nearly 300 homes housing over 1,227 family members since our founding in 1985.

We are dedicated to eliminating substandard housing by constructing new homes and rehabilitating existing homes so Habitat CFC homeowners can achieve the strength, stability and independence they need to build a better future for themselves and their families. Habitat for Humanity was founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a simple, durable place to live in dignity and safety, and that decent shelter should be a matter of conscience and action for all.

Habitat CFC also operates a ReStore in Stratford, CT, a nonprofit home improvement store and donation center that sells quality new and used furniture, appliances, home accessories and building materials to the public at low cost. We are protecting the environment by keeping items out of landfills and all the proceeds from the store go directly to building more Habitat homes!
