Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County (Habitat CFC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Ashley Volkens as its Executive Director.
Volkens joins Habitat CFC from Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo, where she served as Director of Development & Marketing. In that role, she led fundraising initiatives, cultivated corporate and donor partnerships, expanded community engagement efforts, and helped advance the organization's long-term strategic goals.
“Throughout the search process, Ashley demonstrated a collaborative leadership style, a genuine commitment to serving communities, and a strong belief in the power of bringing people together around a shared mission. Her enthusiasm for Habitat CFC's work and her vision for the future resonated deeply with the Board," states Bruce Jackson, Habitat CFC’s Board Chair. “We are excited to welcome her to Habitat CFC and are confident she will help guide our organization into its next chapter.”
A seasoned nonprofit leader, Volkens brings extensive experience in development, marketing, communications, and stakeholder engagement. She is also recognized as a 2026 “Fairfield County’s 40 Under Forty” honoree for her leadership and contributions to the region's nonprofit sector.
Ashley Volkens, incoming Executive Director of Habitat CFC, expresses enthusiasm about joining Habitat CFC and continuing her commitment to strengthening local communities. "Having worked and volunteered in Fairfield County for over a decade, I have seen both the incredible strength of our communities and the growing need for affordable housing," said Volkens. "I am honored to join Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County and excited to work alongside its staff, volunteers, donors, partner families, and community leaders to expand affordable homeownership opportunities for families across the region."
Volkens begins her role at Habitat CFC on June 29, 2026.
