Volunteer Services Coordinator

Position Title: Volunteer Services Coordinator
Position Type: Full-time
Job Classification: Non-Exempt, $25-30 per hour
Reports to: Director of Development & Volunteer Services


The Organization:
Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County (Habitat CFC) seeks to build community and to improve lives by partnering with low-income families, volunteers and donors to build decent and affordable homes in stable and welcoming neighborhoods.


Summary of the Position:
The Volunteer Services Coordinator plays an important role in the Development department focusing on coordinating volunteer services activities and assisting with development projects including events and grants.

 

Volunteer Services:

Volunteer Coordination

  • Coordinate all volunteer services activities
  • Schedule corporate, community and affiliate program Build Days. Manage day-of activities. Take photos of groups on construction sites
  • Recruit, screen, and train volunteers to support Habitat CFC programs and events
  • Coordinate volunteer schedules and assignments
  • Maintain accurate volunteer records and track volunteer hours for reporting purposes
  • Foster positive relationships with volunteers, recognizing and appreciating their contributions
     

Volunteer Engagement

  • Provide ongoing communication and support to volunteers, ensuring a positive volunteer experience
  • Organize volunteer appreciation events, recognition programs, and volunteer training sessions
  • Act as the lead liaison for the affiliate’s Youth United and Women Build programs. Coordinate the program’s meetings and fundraising initiatives 
     

Development:

Events

  • Assist with the pre-coordination and day-of-coordination of Development events including Annual Gala, Golf Tournament and Home Dedication ceremonies.
  •  Help set up online fundraising platform pages (GiveGab, GiveSmart) for events.
  • Help update event website pages and add sponsor/in-kind donation logos
  • Assist with onsite logistics of events including set up, breakdown and volunteer coordination
  • Help solicit silent auction donations, in-kind donations and sponsorships for events

Grants

  • Seek out new fundraising opportunities
  • Grant writing
  • Work with the Development team on donor prospecting
     

Other:

  • Take on additional projects as assigned.


Position Requirements:

  • Previous experience in volunteer coordination, non-profit fundraising, community engagement roles, or a related field
  • Excellent written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office. Preferred experience with VolunteerHub and online fundraising platforms
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through
  • Ability to multi-task and perform well under deadlines
  • Normal work week is Tuesday-Saturday. Occasional Sunday or evening hours may be required
  • Preferred bilingual (Spanish/English)

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

  • Occasionally lift equipment and materials weighing up to 20 pounds
  • Ability to walk/stand for extended periods of time
