240 – 246 Greenfield Street, Fairfield, CT
Help us create a street of hope where families can thrive and become productive members of the Town of Fairfield. This fall, we will begin to build four homes in Fairfield’s Tunxis Hill neighborhood. The houses will be located next to each other at 240, 242, 244, and 246 Greenfield Street. Greenfield Street runs between Tunxis Hill Park and the Aldi/Floor & Decor shopping center. The two two-family houses, each with 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and 1,624 square feet will abut Tunxis Hill Park.
The Greenfield Street development will be the first project undertaken by Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County in the Town of Fairfield. While Habitat has had great success in creating affordable home ownership units elsewhere within Fairfield County, the organization has not been able to identify similar opportunities within the Town of Fairfield — until now. The Town of Fairfield is partnering with Habitat CFC by purchasing the land and providing the organization with a no-cost, 75-year, renewable ground lease to develop four new affordable home ownership units in Fairfield, where the median sales price of a single-family home exceeded $800,000 in 2022. The Town and Habitat CFC are hopeful that this project will serve as a model that can be replicated elsewhere within Fairfield, adding to the Town’s current inventory of 625 affordable housing units.

Together, in a relatively short time, we can build these homes. Our campaign seeks to raise $800,000 to build the 4 units. Habitat CFC homes vary in total cost depending on each home’s plan and property. Generally, we list a full sponsorship of a Habitat Coastal Fairfield County (CFC) home as $200,000, however, it costs us well over $200,000 to build each home.
To help us raise the funds, The Elizabeth and Joseph Massoud Family Foundation and an anonymous Fairfield family have each agreed to offer a dollar-for-dollar match for donations up to $200,000 ($400,000 combined)! If Habitat CFC can raise $400,000, the money will be matched, and we will have the funds needed to complete the Fairfield homes.
