Position: Development Events Intern

The Organization:
Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County (Habitat CFC) builds communities and improves lives by eliminating substandard housing and creating homeownership possibilities for local families. Since 1985 Habitat CFC has built or rehabbed 284 homes and has helped over 1,000 family members in Fairfield County. While we have completed projects and are working throughout Coastal Fairfield County, the largest portion of our current building effort is happening in Bridgeport. We are a developer with a commitment to “green” construction, a family service agency, non-profit financial institution, community advocate and provider of over volunteer opportunities. Our ReStore, located in Stratford, accepts donations of furniture, appliances and building materials, and then resells them. The proceeds from the ReStore help us build more affordable housing in Coastal Fairfield County.

Summary of the Intern Position:
Come join the Habitat for Humanity Development Team in Bridgeport! The Development Events Intern will work in our fast-paced Development Department focusing on fundraising events and development projects.
The intern will assist with the coordination of fundraising events including:
• Soliciting in-kind donations from companies for our Annual Gala Silent Auction.
• Assist with maintaining & updating our silent auction items and registration information on our website.
• Assist with maintaining & updating event-related spreadsheets.
• Preparation for events such as: coordinate and inventory supplies, in-house sign printing, organize silent auction items, etc.
• Day of Event help such as help set up silent auction, arrange giveaways, organization silent auction display, etc.

The intern will also assist with various development projects.

Position Requirements:
• Commitment to Habitat for Humanity’s mission and programs.
• Goal driven individual with non-profit or other volunteer experience, or a desire to gain such experience.
• Excellent writing skills.
• Extremely detail-oriented with the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel and Outlook. Ability to do research on Google.
• Ability to learn and work on different fundraising software platforms.
• Strong team player, but also a self-starter who takes ownership of assigned projects to see them to completion.

Location: Habitat CFC office at 1785 Stratford Avenue, Stratford, CT 06615
Start Date: Immediate
Length of Internship: A 3-month commitment, but the position could continue longer.
Hours: Ideally, the intern should be able to commit at least 8-10 hours a week to the position, anytime during the hours of Monday-Friday 9:00am through 5:00pm.

Compensation:
No-Salary/Unpaid. If applicable, experience may be used for college credit through the applicant’s university or volunteer hours, if needed.
