About Youth United
Youth United is the youth division of Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County (Habitat CFC). Students ages 12 to 18 from different backgrounds, schools, and organizations in Fairfield County come together to develop leadership skills, engage in positive service activities, and make friends in the broader community.
Youth United coordinates build days, fundraisers, and other activities so that every student, regardless of age, has the opportunity to contribute to Habitat CFC’s mission of providing decent and affordable housing to the coastal Fairfield County. Since 2004, Youth United has sponsored eight Habitat CFC homes for local families.
How to Get Involved
Monthly Meetings
Students meet virtually the second Tuesday of every month at 7:00 PM to plan fundraisers and activities. Newcomers and parents are always welcome. Leading up to major events, Youth United may meet more frequently. If you’re interested in attending our next meeting, click here to register!
Building Opportunities
Youth United ensures every student has the chance to contribute toward building Habitat CFC homes. While only students 16 years of age or older are allowed on the build site, younger students help with landscaping, fencing, and painting. All Youth United students help build and stain bookcases that are donated to new Habitat CFC homeowners. Students have presented a bookcase filled with gently used books at every Home Dedication Ceremony since 2011. Fundraisers and Community Outreach
Youth United fundraises throughout the year to sponsor a Habitat CFC home and reach out to the community. Members have participated in making and selling craft items, car washes, and gift wrapping at local stores – to name a few. Students sometimes collaborate with Sacred Heart University’s Campus Chapter of Habitat CFC in planning and executing fundraisers. Past fundraisers have included Hoops for Habitat, a basketball-scoring competition, scrimmage, and clinic for youth held in Bridgeport conducted by former NBA and WNBA players. Youth United is open to partnering with local organizations and schools on events. Contact us if interested!

“The best part about Habitat’s Youth United group is getting to meet young people with the same passion to help others that you have. Connecting with future homeowners and the community really makes the work days feel as impactful as they are.”
