We invite you to join Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County (Habitat CFC) in supporting the 19th Annual 5K Run for Home and WorkBoot Challenge on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Seaside Park in Bridgeport. This event is presented by Bankwell and in partnership with WEBE 108 and WICC 600!
The Habitat 5K Run for Home has been one of Habitat CFC’s main events over the years. The run was developed 19 years ago by Habitat CFC Co-Founder John Olson and takes place in Seaside Park, Bridgeport in October.
Why do we have a run each year? Well, it’s fun and it helps us build more homes for families in need of decent, affordable housing in Coastal Fairfield County. We have built over 200 homes and helped over 1,000 family members since our organization was established in 1985 and we want to keep building more! The proceeds raised from this year’s run will help finish the construction of a new Habitat home for the Rodriguez family (scroll down this page to learn more).
Won’t you and your family join us? Online registration is open! Click here or on the Register Now button above to sign up.
If you are unable to attend, you can still help support us by fundraising or donating to this great event, click here to learn how you can help.

Habitat CFC challenges you to get your best time in workboots (or at least finish the course!). Runners taking part in the WorkBoot Challenge are also encouraged to dress up in builders’ costumes. The more fun you have with dressing up, the funner the race will be!
So grab your boots and head to the race to show us what you can do! And remember, it’s all to help families obtain affordable housing!

“I was so excited, I couldn’t believe we were chosen as future Habitat homeowners! Once we accepted the responsibility that comes with being Habitat future homeowners, I knew that my daughters would someday have a place to bring home friends that they could be proud of. A place I could be proud of. We can’t wait to have a yard big enough to grow our own vegetables, we love gardening and if we can grow our own, we can keep our costs down,” said Elman.
“We have come so far, and this is the next step in stabilizing our lives. Once we have the house, we will be making payments on our mortgage and utilities for less than what we paid on rent. Then we can start to think about college for the girls,” said Adriano. “We owe it all to Habitat for accepting us into the program!” Read the family’s full Bio here.
