“My children, Charles and Angel ask every day if it is time for them to start packing their things so they can move into their new house. For them, the day can’t come soon enough!” Xiomara exclaims. She is well on her way to completing the family’s 500 sweat equity hours needed to become a Habitat CFC homeowner. “I have worked on Habitat houses that are being built and love helping build my future house with other volunteers,” Xiomara says. “Since I have no family in Bridgeport, the other future Habitat homeowners will be my family as we already share a special bond. All of the skills I’ve learned will be helpful when I finally own my own house.”
